Dr. Richard Bracken is an Associate Professor of Exercise Physiology and Biochemistry at Swansea University, Wales, UK. He is also the Vice-Chair for the Exercise and Physical Activity study group (ExPAS) of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes.
Dr. Bracken’s research aim is to explore the interaction of exercise, nutrition and medication in the energy metabolism and functional outcomes of people with type 1 diabetes. He speaks regularly at conferences and publishes peer-reviewed papers and book chapters in this interesting inter-disciplinary area. He is also interested in a better understanding of the impact of exercise stress on factors beyond glycaemic control in people with Type 1 diabetes who wish to exercise safely.
