NHS test beds – business expression of interest05 Mar 2018
Innovate UK, on behalf of the Office for Life Sciences, and in collaboration with the National Health Service England, invites expressions of interest for its NHS test beds for businesses. This enables businesses to test the impact of combinatorial innovations on the biggest health and care challenges and work with the NHS. The purpose is to improve patient outcomes and experience of care at the same cost as, or at a lower cost than, current practice, while helping the economy grow. Funding is available from two streams:
•Innovate UK supports projects that integrate new product and service innovations, and that produce significant health improvements at the same or less cost than existing practice;
•The NHS England supports projects that integrate digital approaches to self-management education and support for people with type 2 diabetes.
Applicants must be a micro, small or medium-sized enterprise with a market-ready digital product that addresses a clearly defined health and care challenge that is in line with the national NHS and life sciences priorities. They must be willing to partner with an NHS organisation or partnership, and have a track record of working on innovative projects and a commitment to digital agenda. The innovation must be combinatorial, which means it must consists of new combinations of products or processes.
Innovate UK invests £4.5 million and NHS invests £1.5m. Eligible projects are worth between £500,000 and £1.5m, but those requesting amounts outside of this range are considered if justified. Projects have a duration up to 18 months and must start on 1 October 2018. This call is running in parallel with another call for organisations.
